Review: House of Immortal Pleasures

BOOK REVIEW FOR HOUSE OF IMMORTAL PLEASURES BY KATIE SALIDAS

This book is for ADULT AUDIENCES ONLY. It contains substantial
sexually explicit scenes and graphic language which may be considered
offensive by some readers.

House of Immortal Pleasures is a Novella featuring Daphne, a young woman with a broken heart. The book opens with Daphne being 'kidnapped' by her two friends in the hopes of cheering her up, Daphne has recently broken up with her boyfriend.
The friends have blindfolded Daphne and are driving her to an unknown location. When the car finally stops and the secret spot is finally revealed, Daphne is both angry and ashamed. The girls have taken her to The House of Immortal Pleasure; a vampire brothel. Her friends refuse to leave before she has some 'fun'.
The novella also takes the POV of a vampire named Connor, who works at the House as a punishment for a crime he committed years ago.
Their stories intertwine: Connor's last night at the house is the same night that Daphne first goes there, and their lives cross as Daphne is pushed into spending the night with Connor.
Connor comforts her, trying to settle her nerves and knowing the truth of her former boyfriend; he vows to make it the best night possible for daphne. As the night goes on and Connor shows Daphne thins that she never thought possible, she finally feels free and cared for in the arms of the seductive vampire.

This Novella is, smart, funny, sexy and full of passion. Once the story comes to an end, twists weave themselves into the story leaving you hungry for more, the chemistry between Daphne and Connor is fantastic and I wish the story was longer. If you love passion and a little adult content this Novella is a must read!

BOOK REVIEW:PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS

REVIEW: PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS BY MICHELLE ZINK
This book was amazing to say the least; it literally gave me goosebumps while I read it. The book is based in the 1800s which is great because it gives you a look into how they spoke and how the lifestyle was back then.

The story revolves around 16 year old twins Lia and Alice who have just lost their father and since they had also lost their mother shortly before, they are now orphans. As soon as their father passes Lia becomes branded with a strange mark on her wrist, she fears to tell anyone of this including her sister Alice who has grown further from her; to the point of becoming her enemy, and begins to scare Lia.
Lia soon finds out that her and her sister are part of an ancient prophecy, which has turned sisters against each other throughout generations; one good one evil, Lia must find a way to end the prophecy before her sister. When things begin to get complicated, lines are drawn and nothing is as it seems. Alice shows her true colors and Lia must do everything within her power to protect the ones she loves and to put an end to prophecy that can tear the world apart.
This book will leave you breathless and aching for more; when the truth of who Lia and Alice really are is finally shown, you will be shocked and drawn further into the story than you'd ever expect. Michelle Zink has done a fantastic job in creating this story and bringing the prophecy to life, surprises, and mysteries lurk at every turn of the page as Evil follows Lia on her quest to find out the truth.
I say this book is a MUST READ! Put it on your TBR shelves because it should not be overlooked. Enjoy.

BOOK REVIEW: Jekel Loves Hyde

JEKEL LOVES HYDE BY BETH FANTASKEY

This book had me right from the beginning and carried me all the way through til the end. It kept my heart racing through every page and even touched me on an emotional level; filled with suspense, love, excitment and mystery, you can't go wrong with Jekel Loves Hyde, it's a fantastic read.

The book follows the story of both Jill Jekel and Tristen Hyde, two people on completely opposite levels of popularity. The book opens with the death of Jill's father, where she first gets a glimpse of Tristen's kinder side as he comforts her at her dad's funeral. Both are smart kids, with an eye for chemistry and the arts. When things start getting strange for Jill; like she finds out her college saving have mysteriously disappeared, she begins to dig deeper into her late father's life. There is a mysterious box that she has been forbidden to touch by her mother and with her funds for school gone the potential for a scholarship may be locked away within that box.
With the chance to win 30 thousand dollars, Jill enlists the help of Tristen Hyde in the hopes of increasing her chances of winning, but little does she know that Tristen has some dark secrets of his own. Working as Jekel and Hyde, Jill and Tristen attempt to recreate the potions based on the famous novel. In the hopes of winning the scholarship and hopefully saving Tristen's soul they twist themselves deeper and deeper into the mysteries of the legend, and when Jill accidentally gets a taste of the formula-she's forced to let loose her darkest desires. As her own darkness threatens to take control and push her to be the bad girl, her love for Tristen and the scholarship become threatened by her darker side.

With twists and turns this book will NOT disappoint. You will be pulled into their lives and feel like your a part of the story! Great book and I recommend it to everyone!

BOOK REVIEW: IMMORTALIS CARPE NOCTEM

Immortalis Series by Katie Salidas

Book 1: Immortalis Carpe Noctem

This book gripped me right from the beginning. I haven't read many adult based books but this one was a great read full of mystery, drama, action, and desire.
The book revolves around the life of Alyssa.
Alyssa's life was pretty boring and repetitive, but she felt happy; she went to school, went to work and hung out at the local coffee shop with her friends. One night as she heads home from the coffee house alone, she falls victim to a mugging where 2 men look to rape and kill her right on her school campus. As she lays on the ground bleeding to death, she is saved by a mysterious man name Lysander from a brutal fate but the only way for him to save her is to push her into a new life and force her to leave everything she knew behind. But is this new life a gift...or a curse. Now that Alyssa is a vampire her life has been turned upside down, where she can no longer live the life she once had, or speak to any of her friends or family, she's completely alone. Well, except for Lysander...She can't seem to figure him out but she feels a strong connection to her sire and she doesn't quite know if he feels the same.
With Lysander explaining to her the rules and ways of living as a vampire, Alyssa soon realizes that the life may be too difficult for her to handle. Her main worry being that she has to feed on people to survive, but she sees eventually that there is no other way but she focuses her attacks on those who would possibly attack others. After Alyssa's first hunt, her and Lysander come face to face with a warning. Her turning hasn't gone unnoticed by the largest coven, a coven that Lysander use to be a part of. With the threat of The coven's mistress upon them, Lysander and Alyssa must try not to draw attention to themselves and figure out a way to stop an impending attack upon them by the coven.
When you think things can't get any worse for the duo, a new threat emerges; one that has been plaguing the vampire world for centuries, the acta sanctorum has been drawn to Las Vegas because of the coven that's after Alyssa and Lysander. When they get into the Acta sanctorum's line of fire all hell breaks loose and they have to fight for their lives with an attack coming from two powerful forces.

This book has action and suspense through all the pages from beginning to end, and when it ended I was hungry for more. Book two will be a fantastic adventure leading Alyssa and Lysander on an epic journey.
I definitely recommend this book series to any Adult book readers that are fans of vampires, romance and adventure because this has everything! A great first novel for Katie Salidas.

BOOK REVIEW: THE PHANTOM DIARIES

THE PHANTOM DIARIES SERIES BY KAILIN GOW

BOOK 1: THE PHANTOM DIARIES

At first I had my doubts about this book, more because I didn't know if I would enjoy the topic seeing as how I usually focus more on fantasy books with vampires and werewolves and faeries etc. But once I began reading I was instantly intrigued.
It enveloped me instantly with mystery and questions.

The book focuses on the life of a girl named Annette, she was called upon to New York to work at the MET Opera house as a seamstress, and even though she is very talented in creating the beautiful costumes of the opera her heart is drawn to the life itself and all she wants is to sing and perform.
Annette meets some of the cast members including a handsome boy named chase a unique girl named Judy and the drama queen-diva Marie. When Annette first witnesses Marie singing the lead role she also experiences one of the most strangest things possible. Everytime Marie opens her mouth, the opera house seems to rumble and growl in anger, when Marie can't handle the interuptions any longer she leaves the role leaving the production in a bind. With the lead role up for grabs Annette feels her hopes lifting, and when the music mysteriously shows up in front of her a stranger named Eric soon follows.
With the help of Eric pushing her to learn the music and encourage her emotions to envelope every note she sings, Annette soon becomes confident enough to audition and eventually win the Lead Role. Eric is the reason she becomes a leading lady and when she digs deeper into his past to find out how he was able to use HIS emotions to push her, she finds out about a long lost love of his named Kristine.
Annette soon finds out that she is more connected with Kristine then she ever knew, and soon sees the truth about Eric.

Drama is at every turn and as the mysteries continue to unfold through the pages this books leaves you wanting more. When the ending comes and your hoping for things to turn out one way, your left with the craziest cliffhanger!
This book had me all the way through and I cannot wait for the next book for me to know what fate has in store for Annette.

Book Review-Bitter Frost

FROST SERIES BY KAILIN GOW
BOOK 1: BITTER FROST

The book starts off with a dream that catches your interest right away. Showing you a glimps of the fairyland through the main character Breena's eyes. Her life in the dream is carefree and fun, showing herself as a child dancing in a faery court.
Once you get into the base of the book you deffinitly need to pay attention to certain details or you may lose sight of some of the situations.

The Book surrounds Breena, a young girl turning 16. Her life isn't the best, she's not popular and she even gets called wierd. She loves art and paints what she dreams; paints things and people she just can't seem to get out of her head. She rmemebers the mysterious young boy from her dream; Kian, and wonders if he's real, she feels that her dream is more real than her actual life.
When Breena begins to see strange things around her she thinks she's going a bit crazy seeing things in the real world that only exist in myth.
Breena only has one person she can trust with this information, and when she tell her best friend Logan about the faery creatures she's seeing he starts acting strange, and protective.
When dream become reality and Breena gets pulled into Feyland, her dream prince charming becomes more than what meets the eye, and the once beautiful and enchanting faeryland turns more dangerous then Breena maybe able to handle.
Evil pixies, a war between the Summer and Winter courts, and a hunt for Breena, makes this book excitin from beginning to end.
Though there were a few plots in the book that just sort of ended, when in the middle of reading, once at the end the "plothangers" don't seem as bad.

The ending to the book leaves many questions unaswered and leaves readers with a major clliffhanger, but it deffinitly pulls you to want more and thankfully a second book is in the works. The Epilogue at the end is just a small taste of what's in store for Breena and possibly the fate of the Faery courts.
I look forward to reading Book 2: Forever Frost
